SORRY but due to quarantine restrictions between Australian States no plants at all can be ordered by residents of Norfolk Island, Tasmania and Western Australia. These restrictions are very important as they prevent the spread of plant pests and diseases. No potatoes, garlic, shallots, strawberries or tubestock can be sent to South Australia. No tubestock can be sent to Northern Territory.

Rakkyo Onion UT

Rakkyo is a hardy multiplying onion native to China. It grows as a dense evergreen clump with pretty, deep rose-pink flowers. It is tolerant of a range of growing conditions. A staple vegetable in cuisines ranging from Japan to China to Thailand to Vietnam to Indonesia. Rakkyo in just a few seasons becomes hugely productive. Suitable for most areas of Australia. Rhubarb tolerates partial shade and prefers a rich, well-drained soil. It is suitable for VIC, NSW and cooler areas of QLD. In humid areas, plant your rhubarb in a planter bag and move under an eave during the wet season. Contrary to popular belief 'red' is not a sign of sweetness in rhubarb, green stems are not only perfectly edible but can also be sweeter than red stems.

Rhubarb 'Ever Red' UT

'Ever Red' is a heavy producer of true crimson red stalks, produces all year round. It is a good variety for cool to temperate climates and can be grown in containers.

Saffron Crocus UT

Saffron Crocus flower stigmas are the world's costliest spice. It grows as a small bulb with purple flowers, each with three stigmas. Easy to grow, in dry Mediterranean conditions (VIC, SA, drier areas of NSW). It is unlikely to be successful in humid, subtropical areas, such as coastal zones north of Sydney and QLD but if you want to give it a try, plant it in a terracotta pot that can be kept fairly dry. Salvia 'Evolution' UT

A compact plant with beautiful deep violet-purple flowers on sturdy spikes. It grows to 45 - 50 cm high and 35 cm wide. It is a perennial in warmer areas but grows as an annual in colder areas. A particularly hardy, low maintenance flowering plant that is attractive to bees and beneficials. It is an excellent cut flower, bedding plant or to grow in containers. The violet flower spikes can be dried and used as everlasting flowers for bouquets or craft projects. It prefers a rich, moist, well-drained in full sun to light shade but tolerates poorer soils. Suitable for temperate and subtropical areas. Time to bloom: 100 days.

Shallots
Australians are often confused about what a shallot actually is, as we commonly refer to spring onions this way. Elsewhere in the world the word 'shallot' is only used to describe these small bulbs with a superb, delicate flavour.
Red Shallots UT
Allium cepa var. aggregatum

Red Shallots look similar to golden shallots, but have a reddish skin and pale, purple-pink flesh. The flesh is sweeter, with a subtler flavour than other members of the onion family. They are preferred in Asian cooking, particularly Thai. Generally they appear hardier to subtropical climates than golden shallots. These shallots are suitable for NSW, VIC and southern areas of QLD. Stevia is a hardy herb widely used as a sugar substitute. The cultivar 'Candy' is much sweeter than other types and has no bitter aftertaste. Stevioside, extracted from the leaves of the plant, is said to be 300 times sweeter than sugar but contains no calories.
It is a perennial plant growing to 1 m high, prefers to grow in full sun. It is suitable for temperate and subtropical areas.

Strawberry - Alpine 'Mignonette' UT

'Mignonette' is a cultivated version of the woodland strawberries that have been grown in home gardens since the 12th century. Alpine strawberries can grow in full sun, although in very hot areas, they do better in dappled shade. Like other strawberries, they do best in a rich, fertile, well-drained soil. The plants are hardy and unlike other strawberries, they do not send out runners. Instead they grow as a leafy mound to 30 cm in height. Plants bear fruit the first season after planting. Feed and water regularly and they will continue to fruit for 2 to 4 years. Best grown in temperate or cooler subtropical areas. 'Lowanna' is an Australian-bred strawberry with large, glossy-red, perfectly-shaped, conical fruit. It is suitable for growing from Victoria to Queensland and copes well with hot weather. It is suitable for hanging baskets, containers or garden beds in full sun. These plants are supplied as strawberry runners that are certified virus-free.

Strawberry 'Temptation' UT

An ever-bearing strawberry, 'Temptation' is a 'sweetheart' type that will start producing between January and April, after the other types have finished. The fruit are sweet, good sized, dark red and produced prolifically. Like other strawberries, they do best in a rich, fertile, well-drained soil. The vigorous, compact plants are almost runnerless so ideal for hanging baskets and containers.
