Slasher Weedkiller
FAQs
Will all weeds be killed?
All products work best on soft, non-woody plants - seedlings, grasses, herbaceous annuals.
They are non-systemic, so won't be as effective on woody plants or plants with runners, rhizomes (underground runners) or tap roots; because the natural plant oils do not penetrate woody stems or roots. Shrubs like lantana, gorse or bamboo, deep-rooted plants like thistle and runners like kikuyu, wandering jew, nutgrass or onion weed will not likely be killed with only one spray application. Cutting large annual weeds low, encouraging fresh tender growth and then spraying works very well.

Will drift from the spray harm other plants?
Drift will cause damage on leaves but as these products are non-systemic, it won't spread to other parts of the plant. They will not penetrate woody tissue and so no harm will come to tree bark.

How much do I use on each plant?
Direct and complete coverage of foliage is critical to success.

How quickly will I see results?
On a warm, sunny day, effects can be seen in a few hours. A rain and irrigation free period of two hours following application is desired. Organic herbicides are a great tool in the ongoing fight to spending more of your time planting and harvesting versus weeding, like any tool it needs to be suitable for the job at hand.

Sounds great, how can I get bigger amounts?
Slasher is available as a 1 L, 5 L, 20 L and 200 L concentrate, 1 litre makes 14 litres of spray, 5 L makes over 70 L, 20 L makes 280 L.

Which is the safest?
All products we stock are Certified Organic; meet the Australian standard and rigorous testing for toxicity to be classified as non-hazardous and have no impact on soil organisms. It is a good idea to wear eye protection and gloves, and to avoid exposing the skin to the spray. All of them are Classified as Not a Dangerous Good and they pose no risk to the environment and are non-toxic to animals. None of these move through the plant tissue and into the soil like the toxic herbicides on hardware store shelves.

Slasher Weedkiller BFA Organic
Action
  • non-selective, contact weed spray
  • causes rapid desiccation (dehydration) of plant foliage by removing or 'burning' the waxy cuticle of green vegetation
  • results are usually visible as browning and wilting within hours of application. More advanced or established weeds may only be suppressed and require repeated application.
  • no residual nor translocation/systemic activity and it will not move through soil to injure nearby plants
  • spray drift will impact all green leaves
Unique Quality
  • the USA Food and Drug Administration has cleared Pelargonic acid as a synthetic food flavouring agent, production aid and sanitiser to be used in contact with food and in washing or lye peeling of fruits and vegetables
  • slasher weedkiller is the first Pelargonic acid based 'burn-down' herbicide. It can be used where other herbicides pose significant risks in terms of public health and safety and is especially useful for those concerned about soil, animal and crop health
Application
  • 1, 5, 20, 200 L concentrates. No ready to use size.
  • mix at 70 ml / 1 litre water (1 litre bottle will make 14 litres of spray)
  • apply in warm, sunny weather with no rain or irrigation for 2 hours
  • optimum application volumes are related to weed maturity and density. Ensure that all weed foliage is totally covered. Partial coverage will give only partial control.
  • treated areas can be sown or transplanted into as soon as desirable levels of weed control are obtained but follow-up applications 7-10 days later may be required for perennials and larger annual weeds
Plants Controlled
  • young broadleaf weeds and grasses that are less than 15 cm tall
  • Algae, Lichen, Liverwort and Moss
  • 'it can be used for the suppression and control of weeds, including grasses, vines, underbrush, annual / perennial plants, including moss, saplings, and tree suckers.' (Wikipedia)
Active Ingredients
  • 525 g/L Nonanoic acid, also called Pelargonic acid, which is used in the food processing industry to assist in the peeling of fruits and vegetables. Includes orange oil
  • occurs naturally in plants including geraniums / pelargonium, apples, cheese, milk, rice, beans, oranges, potatoes and grapes
