Pyrethrum
Pyrethrum is an extract from a daisy; it is considered around the world to have the safest 'knockdown' action on a wide range of insects. The following pyrethrum products all control ants, aphids, caterpillars and thrips plus other pests as listed with each product. Pyrethrum may impact beneficial insects, so it should only be used as a last resort.

Beat-A-Bug Insect Spray
Beat-A-Bug Naturally Based Insect Spray is made of natural ingredients, including garlic, chilli and pyrethrum. It is suitable for use throughout the garden including in the vegetable garden. Beat-A-Bug kills and repels all your garden insect pests including ants, aphids, caterpillars, cockroaches, earwigs, leafhoppers, whitefly and thrips. It also gives your plants a boost of natural nutrients at the site of pest attack, for improved resistance.

Kendon Pyrethrum Insect Dust
Easy to use shaker pack; can be used in the garden or house. It controls a wide range of insect pests including caterpillars, aphids, leafhoppers, thrips, potato moths, cockroaches, silverfish and ants. Comes as a 300g shaker pack.
Ingredients: Pyrethrins 2.2g/kg Piperonyl butoxide 12.5g/kg.

Kendon Pyrethrum Insect Killer
Controls ants, aphids, caterpillars, leafhoppers and thrips in the home garden. Mix 30 ml per 5 litres of water, apply as a fine mist. The spray must contact the insects. 100 ml makes up to 16 litres of spray.

Kendon Pyrethrum Insecticide S.F. Professional Concentrate
This solvent-free formulation controls ants, aphids, caterpillars, leafhoppers and thrips. Many people have had excellent results with this safe and highly concentrated product when used on infestations of grass hoppers, green vegetable bug and swarms of beetles. The withholding period is 1 day. 250 ml makes between 250 - 750 litres of spray.

PyGanic Organic Insecticide

For immediate 'knock-down' control of most insects, on contact, for most fruit and vegetable crops. This non-selective and fast acting botanical insecticide is derived only from chrysanthemum daisies. Six constituents of Pyrethrum are extracted to give a broad spectrum of active components.

Use outdoors, in greenhouses or on and around livestock

Specific Pests: greenhouse thrips, passion vine hopper, diamondback moth, pea aphids and potato aphids in addition to the usual villains.
Application: Mix 1.5 - 2.0ml per 1 litre of water. Under conditions of heavy pest pressure or when the pest population is dominated by late immature stages and adults a higher rate is recommended. Apply early morning, late evening or at night when bee and other pollinator foraging has ceased and UV and temperatures are lower. Repeat applications may be necessary as effectiveness ranges from 24-72 hours.
