Rice Bean is a small bush bean with yellow flowers that crops over a long period during the warmer months. The round, thin pods are 8 cm long. The small red beans are mainly used as a dried bean but the green pods, shoots and young leaves can also be eaten. It is often mixed with rice and has the highest calcium content of any dried bean. It is drought tolerant and can be used for fodder, green manure or as a nitrogen-fixing intercrop.
