Detroit' beetroot is a high yielding, globe-shaped, deep crimson root vegetable with a smooth skin. The attractive dark green leaves with red veins can be used as cooked greens. Beets have an excellent flavour, are very nutritious and can be eaten raw, steamed or made into soup.
