Celtuce is botanically a lettuce harvested for the celery-like edible stem. The stem is crisp, moist with a mild to slightly bitter flavour and it is used raw, or in stirfries and soups; young leaves can be used in salads or steamed. It is hardy, frost resistant and slow to bolt. Sow spring and autumn. Suitable for temperate, subtropical and tropical areas.
