Shishoto is a Japanese variety with a sweet, mildly spicy flavour, although occasionally one can surprise you with more heat. The fruit are 7 cm long and 2 cm wide with thin, ribbed walls. It is usually eaten green but ripens to a glossy red. A good choice for containers as the sturdy bushes are only 50 cm high. It is productive and hardy, producing over a long period. Days to harvest: 75 days for red.
