Cosmos 'Picotee' is a beautiful cosmos, it has large white flowers edged with shades of rich, rosy pink. It is a good background plant that grows over 1.2 m tall. Feathery foliage fills plants in from top to bottom creating a bushy look. It is useful in the orchard as a bee forage and nectar source for beneficial insects and butterflies. It can be used as a cut flower. A native of Mexico, it prefers a sunny position with protection from wind. Suitable for temperate, subtropical and tropical areas. Sow seed in November - December in cool temperate areas. Sow in warm temperate areas early Spring to Summer. In subtropical areas sow Spring and Autumn (in frost free areas only). In tropical areas sow during the dry season. The best germination soil temperature is between 22 - 27°C. Germination will take 14 - 21 days. Sow the seed 5 - 6 mm deep direct into a garden bed, it dislikes being transplanted. Space the plants 40 - 50 cm apart. Dead-head regularly; cosmos often self-sow from year to year.
