The flowers, young leaves and shoots of this species, Cosmos sulphureus, are edible whereas the common Cosmos bipinnatus are not. It is very drought and heat tolerant. Suitable for temperate, subtropical and tropical areas. Sow seed in November through to December in cool temperate areas. Sow in warm temperate areas early Spring to Summer.
