An heirloom variety of silverbeet with a very compact form so it is particularly useful in small gardens and containers. The leaves are dark green, glossy, smooth with slightly curled edges and the stems are thick and bright white. 'Barese' can be grown as tender baby leaf or to its full size of 45 cm high. It can also be harvested at 25cm tall and sold as whole plants, much like bok choy. It is tender with a good flavour.
