Statice 'Forever Blue' is an annual cottage garden favourite with large, papery, deep blue, tightly packed flower clusters produced on strong, slender stems to 65 cm tall. It is used both as a cut flower and as a dried flower. In the garden the flowers are attractive to butterflies. It prefers a well-drained loamy soil in a sunny position and is drought and salt tolerant. Seeds germinate best at 21°C; sow early spring in temperate areas; late spring in very cool areas; March to April in subtropical areas. It may self-sow if not dead-headed regularly to encourage blooming. Days to bloom: 110 - 120 days.
