It is used both as a cut flower and as a dried flower. In the garden the flowers are attractive to butterflies. It prefers a well-drained loamy soil in a sunny position and is drought and salt tolerant. Seeds germinate best at 21°C; sow early spring in temperate areas; late spring in very cool areas; March to April in subtropical areas. It may self-sow if not dead-headed regularly to encourage blooming. Days to bloom: 110 - 120 days.
