Subclover
Subclover is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Self-sowing, adds nitrogen, used to create an on-site mulch that doesn't need cutting; in temperate areas, subclover will die back in summer and regrow in autumn; does well in acid soils. Sow in temperate areas March - April; in subtropical areas May-July.

Subclover is a free seeding, annual legume with a prostrate growth habit, hairy leaves and small white flowers. Suited to areas with hot dry summers and mild moist winters; it prefers an acid to neutral soil. It is useful as a green manure as it builds soil fertility; it can also be left to die off naturally to create a mulch for summer crops. It grows vigorously during winter and can be useful as a 'living mulch' under crops or as a component of an orchard groundcover. Subclover is one of the mostly widely grown pasture legumes for animal forage in Australia, it can be grown in conjunction with other pasture species such as ryegrass, white clover and lucerne.
