Swede 'Laurentian' is an improved form of 'American Purple Top' introduced in 1920. The large roots are globe-shaped, with a purple skin at the top and a creamy colour at the bottom. The flesh is fine-grained and sweet flavoured, ideal for mashing and adding to winter soups and stews. This is a very hardy vegetable and easy to grow. It stores extremely well. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies. Days to Harvest: 115 - 120.
