Sweet Corn 'Anasazi'
Sweet Corn 'Anasazi' is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Anasazi' is an ancient Indian, open-pollinated sweet corn believed to be one of the oldest varieties still in existence. It grows to 2 metres tall producing 2 to 3 cobs per plant. As sweet corn it needs to be eaten young when there are still speckles of white in the golden cobs. If left past this stage, it becomes multi-coloured and can be used as a flour corn. The dried cobs are very decorative with yellow, red and black kernels. It is a very drought resistant variety and can do well even on poorer soils. Corn is wind pollinated and cross pollination can occur easily up to 1 km so keeping this variety pure needs distance. Many heirloom varieties are lost by failure to prevent cross pollination. The leaves and stems are a good animal forage. Days to harvest: 90 - 100.
